a great blogging platform

WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is an Open Source project, which means there are hundreds of people all over the world working on it. (More than most commercial platforms.) WordPress is a publishing software with a focus on ease of use, speed and a great user experience. WordPress is blessed with an active community, which is the heart of open source software.

WordPress started in 2003 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.

Limitations - NOTE: WordPress does NOT provide for different classes of users. Consequently, if you wanted to create a special area for campaign volunteers (with special pages for them) and for example a special area for campaign staff, WordPress is NOT a viable alternative.

Definition: A blog (a contraction of the term "web log") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. If you are not a prolific writer, WordPress is not the right choice.
